Safe Zone Overlay privacy policy
Chrome extension “Safe Zone Overlay for Reels, TikTok & Shorts” · Last updated: 1 November 2026
Short version: the extension collects no data. It doesn't read, store or send your personal information, your browsing history or the content of the pages you use it on, and it makes no network requests.
What the extension does
When you click its toolbar icon or press Alt+Shift+S, it draws a safe zone overlay (for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts or Instagram Story) over the largest video, image or canvas on the current tab, or shows a 9:16 frame you can move. To place the overlay it measures the size and position of that element inside your browser. Nothing is recorded or sent.
Data we collect
- None. No personal data, no page content, no browsing history, no usage statistics.
- No analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no cookies, no remote code.
- No account or sign-up.
Settings stored on your device
The extension remembers your last platform, style and opacity with Chrome's chrome.storage.sync. If you have
Chrome sync turned on, Google syncs these three settings between your own browsers as part of your Chrome profile; we never
receive them. Removing the extension deletes them.
Permissions
- activeTab: access to the current tab only after you click the icon or press the shortcut.
- scripting: to add the overlay to that tab.
- storage: to remember the three settings above.
The extension does not request access to all websites and does not run in the background on pages you visit.
