PixSwap privacy policy
Chrome extension “PixSwap – Save Image as PNG, JPG & WebP” · Last updated: 1 November 2026
Short version: PixSwap collects no data. The images you convert are processed on your device and saved to your own Downloads folder or clipboard. Nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.
What the extension does
When you right-click an image and choose a PixSwap menu item, the extension downloads that one image from the address your
browser already shows it from, converts it to PNG, JPG or WebP inside your browser (canvas), and saves it with Chrome's
downloads API or puts it on your clipboard (“Copy image as PNG”). To find the full-size version, it reads the image's
srcset in the page. Nothing is recorded or sent.
Data we collect
- None. No personal data, no images, no page content, no browsing history, no usage statistics.
- No analytics, no tracking, no advertising, no cookies of our own, no remote code.
- No account or sign-up.
Network requests
The only network request PixSwap makes is fetching the image you right-clicked, from the site that hosts it, the same way your browser loads it. When a site normally needs your login cookies to show you that image, the request includes them, exactly like the page does. No other server is contacted.
Settings stored on your device
PixSwap remembers five settings (last format, JPG quality, WebP quality, max width, ask where to save) with Chrome's
chrome.storage.sync. If Chrome sync is on, Google syncs them between your own browsers as part of your Chrome
profile; we never receive them. The result of your last action and a pending request are kept in
chrome.storage.session, which Chrome clears when the browser closes. Removing the extension deletes everything.
Permissions
- contextMenus: the PixSwap entries in the image right-click menu.
- downloads: to save the converted file.
- storage: to remember the settings above.
- offscreen: a hidden extension page that converts the image with canvas.
- activeTab and scripting: after you pick a PixSwap menu item, temporary access to that tab to read the clicked image (its largest size, page-only images) and to copy the PNG to your clipboard.
- Access to other websites (optional): not granted at install. If an image is hosted on another domain that blocks extensions, PixSwap asks you once in a small window, and you choose “only this site” or “all sites”. It is used only to download the image you right-clicked. You can remove it at any time in the popup (“Remove access”) or in Chrome's extension details.

The popup links to free tools on rastcreative.com, such as the bulk WebP to JPG converter (Türkçe). If you open them, that website's own privacy notice applies (it is in Turkish and covers cookies and analytics on rastcreative.com).
Sharing and selling
We don't sell, share or transfer any user data, because we don't have any.
